Black & Gold: Fashion

Before E's first deployment, as we began our transition from years of being "just friends" to being a couple, we only had a brief period together to sustain us through a year of separation. During that time, a lot of things felt exceptionally important. Talking. Sharing old memories. Creating new ones. Being side by side.

And, for me, somehow so did making sure E was aware I was a "silver girl." I figured it couldn't hurt to offer some guidelines should he decide at some point to give me a gift of jewelry. Gold just wasn't my thing! When telling him this, I might have used the word "hate."

For our first Christmas as a couple, one spent on opposite continents, E gave me a silver bracelet. He had taken my words to heart.

Then, while E was still deployed, something happened. At first, I swore it was a one time thing, but slowly I realized it was more than a passing flirtation. I found myself adoring gold.

So, I added a pair of gold earrings to my jewelry collection. Soon after, a set of gold bangles found their way home with me too. In a state of utter bliss, my love affair continued.

I failed to confess my change of heart to E, but it wasn't long after he returned home that he discovered it for himself. One afternoon, I watched surprise and disbelief flash across E's face as he registered the color of metal hanging from my ears, and he exclaimed, "I thought you hated gold?!"

Perhaps hate was too strong a word.

Happy Friday!!! YAY!!! It's time for a new Wags 'n Whiskers challenge! This week, the challenge was issued by the one and only Crissy Armstrong. Dang, this girl has some TALENT with a capital T!! Crissy's challenge is this: Be inspired! Use someone else's creation to inspire you! Give them credit for the inspiration and link us back to their project! Well, I was blog hopping the other day and came across a card with a layout I really loved! So I let it inspire me for this card. Please click HERE to see the card by Irina Blount.

Please be sure and visit the Wags 'n Whiskers blog to see the gorgeous creations from the rest of the fabulously talented Diva's, then use one of your Wags 'n Whiskers stamps to play along with the challenge for a chance to win! Cuttlebug Folder Storage

This post is in response to a thread on the Cricut message board. Some posed the question of how to store their Cuttlebug embossing folders. I must say there were a lot of creative and interesting ideas posted, but I like my storage system. I use the Cuttlebug binder system.

Before I detail the system let me share the benefits: the binder stores easily on a shelf; it holds a variety of sizes and shapes of folders; the system is awesomely transportable so I can easily grab my binders and head off to a crop; and best of all, everything is in one area.

The binders come with a few pages already in them but additional pages with varying pocket configurations are available. I purchased my sets from Custom Crops, but the products are readily available from a number of craft providers.

I know that the binders were created for the Cuttlebug products, but I find that they work equally well with my sizzix embossing plates and my nestabilities. In fact I love the Cuttlebug binder for my nesties... Even the tall nesties fit in the binder with no problem.
